The fourteen tracks were whittled down from some thirty or so written and performed by Gronk over the last year.
The album proceeds in three distinct phases: the first has a poppy, electronic vibe. Following this is the fuller, rounded sound of Dream On, Every So Often and A Mist of Stars; the last phase is the lighter, folky tracks.
Tricks Of The Light is released on Monday 13th October exclusively through this site. The download includes artwork and costs £5.

Tricks Of The Light

(Administrator 2008-Oct-11, 21:42) Tricks of the Light is the stunning new album from Gronk.

Some of the instrumental tracks went through some minor editing (mainly to trim them to a more reasonable length) a few months later.

Summer's gone, so the leaves come down

(Gronk 2008-Sep-24, 11:08) It's been a while since my last post, during which many things have changed and many remain the same

Centrifugal Force

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:27) Gronk's 1994 instrumental album, remastered in 2006, stands the test of time as a modern symphony. Although set in nine distinct movements, each track reiterates the common threads and themes running throughout the piece.

Sweet Streams Of Nancy: Singular

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:27) The four singles "released" from Sweet Streams of Nancy were Open Water, Turn, A Dream of St Peter and Charybdis.

Each single came replete with one entirely new song and two demos or remixes of other album tracks (most of which, the demos of Open Water and Charybdis particularly, were well worth listening to). In the event, these tracks were all collated onto one cassette called Singular.

Sweet Streams Of Nancy: Part 2

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:26) Gronk's 1996 double album, remastered as a Ten Year Anniversary Edition in 2006, was heavily influenced by The Cure's Disintegration. The overall feel of the album is much the same: layered, brooding but with occasional upbeat songs to keep the pace up.

Sweet Streams Of Nancy: Part 1

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:26) Gronk's 1996 double album, remastered as a Ten Year Anniversary Edition in 2006, was heavily influenced by The Cure's Disintegration. The line-up was Gronk (vox, guitars, keys), George Apsion (guitars, vox), Andy Overend (violin).

DARKNESS/insects

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:26)
A little-heard instrumental album, this themed collection sees Gronk experimenting with an untypically electronica dance sound, with very dark and disturbing overtones.

Offcuts

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:25) A collection of songs written and performed by Gronk, recorded between 1996 and 2006. These are, indeed, offcuts: songs that didn't make it onto other compilations for one reason or another. (This compilation was originally uploaded as Pains Of Sleep.)

Letters Home

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:25) A collection of some of the songs written and performed by Gronk from 1996 to 2006. Since he writes and records between ten and twenty songs a year, this is only a collection of some of the most accessible tracks from a huge collection.

Victoriana

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:24) A collection of songs written and performed by Gronk, and recorded between 2002 and 2004.

Back In The UK

(Administrator 2007-Dec-26, 17:22) Back in London, new musical collaborations have already arisen...
