Back to London from the USA, via a stopover in Inverness where I bumped into Mike Scott of The Waterboys at the airport, I've returned to my job as a private tutor. It's pretty hard to explain how English actually works: there doesn't seem to be a single hard-and-fast rule in the whole language.

My old friend Billy from KicksJoyDarkness is over for a month from California, organising a charity gig with the aim of providing musical instruments and classes for slum kids in Kenya. They've flown a seventeen-year-old boy called Lulu over to London to play the show, with Billy and me backing him up on guitar and piano respectively.

It's pretty amazing to hear this kid singing traditional African songs and his own numbers about the injustices that surround him back home; it certainly makes my own problems seem utterly paltry. Hopefully we'll record a couple of his tunes, in which case I'll certainly stick them up on this site.

I'm putting the final touches on my new album/collection thing, which will be called Tricks Of The Light; I reckon it will be ready by Hallowe'en.
